Take a Hike!
Going outside is good.
I'm starting to pull things back together after my vacation...
As I mentioned, we spent the week hiking in Vermont. Clearly, this is not for everyone. First of all, we spent 8 days and 7 nights on the trail. That's 8 days and 7 nights sleeping on a thin sleeping pad in a tent. Our diet consisted of tortillas, peanut butter, fig newtons, bagels, cheese, energy bars, candy bars and an array of Litpon Noodles for dinner. We didn't shower all week. We had to carry everything we needed. We walked an average of 11 miles per day. We were hungry, tired and didn't smell very good.Like I said, not for everyone.
On our seventh day, we ended at a shelter just below the summit of Killington. It was Saturday afternoon, and needless to say, this was a popular spot. Earlier in the week, we had camped by ourselves next to a gorgeous, babbling brook and just below a bright red maple. At this particular location, there were about 15 people and 2 dogs bedding down for the night. Additionally, a couple different trails converged a few yards from our tent. These are some of the more popular routes to the summit of the second highest peak in Vermont. It was busy. It was the most people we had seen all week. We had been out for a week, others had just been out for just a couple hours. And there was everyone in between. Here's my point: we were all enjoying the mountains. It's fall, people! Get out and enjoy it. That's good stuff.

And finally...to the victor go the spoils...
