Leaf Peepers are Strange
Please go for a walk.
I've notice something really strange about leaf peepers. They will travel long distances to view the beautiful colors. But once they arrive, they barely move. I thought this was just a phenomenon here in Pinkham Notch, but I think it's universal.
D and I were in Acadia National Park for a couple days this week, and the leaf peepers kept cracking me up. The license plates read "Iowa," "Missouri," and "Texas" with the accents to match. So, clearly, these folks had driven a long way. They would park the car, get out, look around, take a picture in the parking lot and drive away. Huh? If they had only bothered to walk a few hundred yards they could have taken a picture in a much prettier location and not had 12 minivans in their vacation album. I understand that some people aren't physically to walk due to any number of reasons, but many of these folks were perfectably capable.
I see the same thing here. Ever thought of walking out onto the trails here at Great Glen Trails? The view of the Peabody River from the bridge at the bottom of the Sluice is pretty awesome. I recommend talking a walk to see it. Your photo albums will thank you.
