Electronic Interference

(More blog entries from amy)

Suddenly, I fall.

Susan and I were talking this morning in the staff locker room about how out of shape we are (I'm pretty sure she is in much better shape than I am) for skiing and those early season aches that you get; shins, hip flexors, etc. We were commenting at least we haven’t fallen yet….I knew I should have never said it out loud. We also were talking about skiing with mp3 players. I bought my first mp3 player, an iPod Shuffle this summer and used it all summer long running. I love it! I used to think to myself that how could people run or ski and not just listen to nature but some pounding rhythm in their ears that is not their heartbeat? I found that not having the pounding of my heartbeat audible, helped me enjoy my run more, I ran farther and faster (at least it felt that way). I had not tried skiing with it, but decided I would this morning. It worked out quite well, except I had to bury it under all my layers to keep the battery warm. During the end of my ski a slower song came on that wasn’t helping my pace, so I went to forward it to the next song and while fumbling with gloved hands with poles attached to them, I stuck a pole between my feet and down I went! It wasn’t even on a dramatic downhill but on the lower section of Dragon. Lessoned learned: just put up with the slow song. However in the end, the next song was faster and may have been worth all the shenanigans. If you’re curious what that next song was:

Ryan, the song was Aimee Man's Save Me. I couldn't save myself.

That's a great song! Aimee Mann > KT "I'm trendy and will soon be forgotten" Tunstall.

It is a great song, I think Aimee Man is wonderfully talented, it is just not a good one to workout to.

I skied with Amy yesterday. She didn't fall. Perhaps that's because I was singing "The Safety Dance" the whole time.
