We're ready for the spring opening process to begin

We're preparing the equipment for the annual assault on what winter has left behind on the Auto Road.  The grader is chained up, the Backhoe/loader has it's skidder chains on and now the dozer is getting ice caulks welded to the grouzers.  With the warm weather that is predicted to be coming this week we'll be starting the process in spite of the fact that there is still 3 feet of snow in the fields at the base of the Road.  Check back with us this spring as we progress up through what will be the most impressive amounts of snow we've faced in many years.  We'll have a camera in the hands of the Road Crew so should be able to get good shots several times a week as we go.

Good idea! I'll see if I can grab a short shot tomorrow. We dozed up to about the half mile mark today - good progress.

Your Carbon footprint.

How much fossil fuel is used in this needless activity of clearing the road so early in the spring? My God, don't you realize that oil is a precious resource and should not be wasted. As Darwin said you either adapt to a new environment or you perish. All this waste for what reason...so people can drive up the road instead of walking up the mountain. What a Waste!

For those of us who can't walk up a mountain or a hill for many various reasons, you are the Grace of God providing the opportunity for us to drive to this wondrous mountaintop. Plus, your teaser photos allow us to look forward to the adventure. Thanks to you!...keep those pics coming our way.

Mr Green Jeans do you drink wine, beer, spirits? think about all the green house gas that would save if both were banned!

Hi Marc - We won't be ready to go in April. We still have a lot of pavement to find. With the heavy snows this winter, we plan on opening at some point in early to mid May. Keep checking the blog for updates.
