Small Bumper Mount Washington Auto Road

Some observations from the past couple days.

1. D and I skied at another touring center the other day. (Call it change of scenery, reserach, spying...whatever you like.) We were quite put off by the general grouchiness of the staff. It was such a bummer of a way to kick off the day. I sure hope we're never grouchy like that.

2. D and I also skied here the other day. (Not the same day.) After we finished, I said, "I really like skiing here. And it's not just because I work here." There's something about the way the trails are laid out that I really enjoy. I think it's because you don't have to climb a big hill to get out into the system and then go back down to get back to the lodge. You can pick and choose where you want to ski. I like that. Plus, I can avoid the big hills.

3. Do you think that Patriot fans will still watch the SuperBowl now that the Patriots are out of it? And not just because they're out of it but because the ubiquitous and intolerable Peyton Manning is in it? More importantly, will eveyone go skiing that day, instead? I'm not sure I can even stomach the game right now.

4. Why is pumpkin considered a seasonal flavor? I was really itching for some pumpkin bread the other day. (I love all things pumpkin flavored...except coffee. Coffee should taste like coffee.) I understand pumpkins are associated with the fall, but why do all the foods go away? You can get strawberry flavored things all year long.

Hey Ryan, you sound a little like a very, very young (but much better looking) Andy Rooney. As for the SuperBowl, ya maybe we'll watch it. You've got to love the ads. After all, you are a marketing guy. As for pumpkin, yes. . .bring it on all year. It's a healthy thing. Enjoy it whenever you like. Re: skiing outside of Great Glen . . . gee I don't know about that one!?!?

As a marketing type, I have been really disappointed with the SuperBowl ads of late. It really seems that companies are spending all their money just buying the spots, which are around $30 million for 30 seconds or something crazy like that, and not spending money on what's important: developing a good ad concept. Ads are relying too much on scantily clad women and special effects, and not actually being creative. There are some good ads out there, though. Not to turn this into an advertising blog, but I am partial to the Geico cavemen ads. They've done a good job of taking a simple concept and really expanding it.
