We're open!
Uncle Tupelo, anyone?
I'm going where there's no depression.
The lead up to opening day is pretty crazy. The combination of the excitement of opening and the uncertainty of when it's going to happen is enough to drive you a little nuts. But, in the end it's all worth it.It's my first opening day here, and I have to say it's great to see people out there having fun. Skiing makes everything better. Even though the wind kept us from getting as much terrain open as we would have liked, people are still having a good time. And that's really what matters.
When you come up next be sure to thank Sue, Scott, Glenn and Howie for their hard work making snow. It's a tough work, but they did a great job. Like I said, we had some wind that made it impossible to put the snow right where we wanted it. But we do have a lot of snow in the center of the Geepers Loop that is making for some great skiing.
Unfortunately, we couldn't complete the full Geepers Loop to hold the Sprint Race, but there are only a handful of locations that even have skiing. So we can't be too upset.
Uncle Tupelo playing on my iTunes right now: "I'm going where there's no depression. To a better land that's free from care."
That feels right for today, and I feel like I'm right there. So, come on out and have some fun—it's winter. I need to go find out if I remember how to V2. Wish me luck.

Don't worry, the V2 is like riding a bike!

Fortunately around 3 pm Sue came in off the snow and into my office, "Can Howie come out and play?". Ahhhh, great idea! And it was *so* good to get back on skis even if it was for only a half hour or so - a great break from the office!
