The Mt. Washington Auto Road is now open to treeline, but the Road Crew is still hard at work opening the rest of the Road. For the details, check out the Road Blog.
They're starting to come out

I thought it might be about time to start letting you know how the Alpine Flower bloom is progressing. Remember that our focus is in what can be seen from the sides of the Auto Road – not necessarily what will be in bloom in the Alpine Garden area, but you can use this as a good guideline to what you can expect in the Alpine Garden just the same I think.

Wonderful Ladyslippers are just off the side of the Auto Road at the 1 – 1.5 mile area.
At Cragway Corner about 5.25 miles up Diapensia, Lapland Rosebay, and Alpine Azalea are all blooming; Six Mile area , Lapland Rosebay.
For the next several weeks the flowers will be coming and going – come on up and enjoy!

Thanks, Howie! This is the kind of information that my husband and I were hoping for when you and I talked the other day!

You're welcome! And as an update, as of today June 11 the Rosebay and Diapensia are out in the Cow Pasture area now - so the early bloomers are creeping up the mountain.

My husband and I had an absolutely great trip up to top on Monday morning! Thanks to Regina, one driver, and Info staff (W. Friske?) we were able to see Mountain Sandwort clusters by the "Generator Boulders" and Tip Top House. Abundant dragonflies, many weary or dead, noticed at top also.
***I am in great need of photos showing Alpine Azalea blossoms, not buds, so we plan to take a second and third drive up as soon as you alert us!
In past years, we've only taken one drive up; this year probably 3 or 4...and are seriously considering joining the Observatory. Bless congenial staff, well-organized websites, and a great cause!!!
