Rode the course today with teammate Hannes Schneider who was training for the race. It was the second time he had scoped it out, pointing out the dastardly switchback singletrack climb at the beginning and knowing where those wide and thin bridges were hiding in the woods. The 8.5 mile loop tackles all types of terrain from rocky, rooty singletrack to grassy swaths to wide carriage roads and old school sick drops. The Outback is narrow, dark and deep. Hannes was cool waiting for me along the way as I looked for places to hide to read a book during the race. "We got plenty of time we haven't used yet," he said in Mainespeak. Yup, suppose we'll be using some of that next weekend.

And in other team RSN (Rather Ski Now) news... both Marty and Krissy reported their first endo's to me this week. I asked both if there was any blood and both said no. Sorry, doesn't count guys. Take some of that time you haven't used yet and give it another whirl, pun intended.

I see you rode the course but the map for the 07 course isn't up on the site yet. Is it the same course as last year?

According to Howie the "man", the course is the same as last year. The map on the site seems pretty accurate to me in two weekends of trying it out.

Right, Hannes. The '07 course (and map) is the same as the '06 - no change.
