So you get out of work, darkness has set in and you say to yourself.....back to the cozy confines of home OR do I venture on into the night with that trusty PETZL headlamp, some nordic desire worthy of a wild Norwegian and handfuls of granola bars and pretzels?? Classic rock skiing grabbed my attention and I guess sort of grabbed my skis too! Turned out to be well worth it though as I hit one of my early season spots and clearly aired on the cautious side as I actually found a fair amount of quality gliding.........really more of an up tempo rock-tour rather than some sort of Olympic hill charge. Quiet evening out there though.....no owl hoots, no distant coyotes....just the zip and swoosh of some ever so ancient boards underfoot traversing the scant cover.....as sleet stings the face and breath hits the air. Maybe some early daylight skate action tomorrow.....not at todays spot.....but perhaps I'll make it happen somewhere in this mountainous nordic mecca we call home!

I hear ya Sven. Eli has a way with words when he puts them into the computer. You can look for some of his best stuff coming out in 2009 in the new Madshus catalog. He has been promoted to editor of all nordic consumre materials for alpina / madshus. Ok, maybe not, but he sure can blog.
