More inspiration, this time from a human!

(More blog entries from sue)

fast running, fun running . . .

In my last blog, I wrote about getting inspiration for running from this year's Kentucky Derby winner, Big Brown.  Tomorrow is the Belmont and I am very hopeful this beautiful, powerful horse can make it three in a row, and be the first horse in thirty years to win the Triple Crown.

But yesterday I got inspiration for our weekly trail race from another source.  I happened to be warming up for my race when Curtis Moore flashed by.  He was finishing up his race coming out of the single track behind Cadiddlehopper with less than a half mile to go.  Curtis looked fast and relaxed.  He didn't just look fast, he IS fast!  He has some of the fastest times recorded on our 3.5 mile course, week after week.  What caught my attention, knowing his running speed, is how relaxed and light-footed he looked.  Curtis makes running fast look fun.  That's exactly the kind of mindset I like to have when approaching my race.  I like to leave the start line believing it's going to be fun to run fast.  It's encouraging to see other runners, both human and animal, display this possibility.
