The best view in the east

...but it's nice to visit the neighbors once in a while.

<div>Sue and I both love cross country skiing so much that we’ve all but given up alpine skiing for any number of reasons.  But every once in a while when the stars are in alignment we’ll give it a go. Yesterday was one of those amazing days where everything was just right – sunny, temps in the high 20’s, great snow, wonderful grooming and our favorite venue – Wildcat. Being neighbors makes it especially easy to drive down the street and make a few runs but we rarely ever do it, we’re always checking out some other xc ski area on our days away from the Glen. We hadn’t been alpine skiing at all this winter and decided that this was the day.  It was simply spectacular, you don’t get any better ski days than this in the east.  The snow surface was perfect throughout the day, the light wind was moderating the temp so the snow stayed firm, the view of Mt Washington was indescribably, it was Two For One so there were many others enjoying the day but not crowded at all, and the Tuckerman on draft was the perfect end to the day. My good friend and GM at Wildcat, Tom Caughey, joined us for a few runs in the afternoon.  Nice that we could drag him out of the office for a while on such a day.  Wildcat is coming into the best part of the season for them and the one that they’re renowned for - Spring Skiing, if you haven’t been there for a while put it on your list of things to do before the end of the season.</div> <div> </div> <div>Howie</div>
