What type of lessons do you teach in your kayaking program? I have had one white water lesson, but it was years ago. What would I learn at your lesson?

There's a lot to be learned in a whitewater kayak lesson! We teach different strokes and braces for you to use in controlling your kayak. In case of tip-overs, we teach the "wet exit" and the "safe swimmer position" for keeping safe while being out of the boat in moving current. We teach how to "read" whitewater, so you understand how the current is flowing and the effect obstacles such as rocks above and below the surface are having on the current's flow. You'll learn how to ferry your kayak across the river, as well as how to peel out of eddies, and do eddy turns. In a private whitewater lesson, we can customize to what skills you want to focus on. We can teach you how to surf waves, and get you started on mastering your eskimo roll. Please give us a call; we'd love to help you improve your paddling skills, raise your comfort level, and help you enjoy the sport of kayaking even more.
