Carnage
(More blog entries from marty)
The premise was golden. Meet teammates Hannes Schneider and Krissy for a morning spin on some gloriously tight pine forest singletrack, over some gnome-built bridges and along wide doubletrack. Valley skiers know the Schneider name and its link to modern day skiing. Hannes also mountain bikes, and after a hiatus, he's back in the saddle. All was sweet, until the carnage. Just over a mile into the ride, my rear derailleur snapped off and took a chain link with it. Hannes and Krissy rode on like brave soldiers while I hobbled with my wounded pride back to the truck. I vowed to press on, and decided to train for the night ride. So I went home and took a nice long nap. Upon awakening I looked at my road bike.

Marty - sorry you missed out on the rest of the ride. The riding was fun until we popped out on an unknown road just short of a pit bull. He knew better then to chase Hannes and instead came for me - I screamed - we escaped - finished up unbitten, a little lost, missing your humor and a bit shaken by the dog scare but overall a great ride.

I'm here to post in this very important entry that what Marty says is the truth. Especially the part about the post ride training.
